you
get the idea ?

Now
let's say you see a white sheet of paper

and
I tell you an old joke
"this
is really a picture of
a
POLAR BEAR
in
a
Snow storm"

Several
of the kids understood the concept and idea,
that a
polar bear in a snowstorm contained
no opposites
and so you can't see anything.
Look at
these images of black
& white

Notice
how it is easier to see an image that
is black and white. These images are in high contrast.

ART
PROJECT: Black and White
Supplies
Needed: black & white paper, black & white pencil, scissors,
glue (stick or elmers), work area.
We
started out with our warm ups. It was fun to draw with our non
dominant hand. We used a white pencil on black paper, black pencil
on white paper. We cut black paper and glued it onto a larger
piece of white paper so there was half and half. We then added
cut and torn paper to each side placing white and black and white
on white and black on white and black on black.
At
the end of class we combined all our work on the floor to create
a collaborative art work. The pieces were laminated and displayed
around the school and given to each class.
