ur hands, and twist our hips. We draw spirals, circles, lines, triangles, squares, we trade hands and listen to the music.

Using a laptop computer and projector, we looked at a movie project I was working on called- MAGIC TIME. We talked about what it means when an artist is a Concept Artist, Art Director, and Production Designer in the film industry.

We then looked at SKULLS, all different kinds of animal skulls.
(remember it's Halloween)

We looked into breaking down everything we saw into basic shapes and lines, like a builder would begin a house. They start with the foundation and then build up, adding walls, roof, windows, and later paint and add nice things inside.

Next: a human skeleton. Like building a house, start with the foundation. Without our skeleton we would be a pile of jelly on the floor and unable to move.

We talked about proportions. Little kids draw people with really big heads and little teeny bodies. A proportional skeleton has a skull which is about 1/8 the size of the body. This means a body could be measured in 8 heads.

Each young artist was given a xerox of a skeleton on a black sheet of paper with a white pencil and then invited to copy the skeleton. Lines were already drawn on each side.  Looks easier than it is!
